Time for a Change

We are constantly getting older. Time marches on and we can’t stop that from happening no matter how hard we try. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just a fact of life. But sometimes it seems that time happens to be working against us.

Many times in life we have a plan for ourselves. We want to achieve this goal by this date and we’re willing to devote this much time to getting us there. So we set out on accomplishing this goal that we have set for ourselves. We slave away and put forth all of the effort that we have into making this dream a reality. We think of nothing else but this goal for months or years or however long it takes for us to accomplish it. And then after all of that time and effort that we put in, we finally get to say that we have achieved that goal that we set out to achieve.

And after all of that, we should feel good, but that’s not always the case. All of sudden, we’ve reached that goal, but for some reason we’re not happy with where we’re at. We’ve done all of that work, but for some reason achieving that goal doesn’t bring us the happiness that we thought we were going to have. And when this happens we may start to think that we have to stick with this thing that we have chosen for ourselves because we committed so much of our lives to achieving this goal. That may be what you think, but that’s not what needs to happen.

Positive thinker, just because you put a lot of time and effort into something doesn’t mean you have to stick with it.

You can choose a different major.

You can choose a different career.

You can get out of that relationship.

You can move to a new city.

You can start over!

It’s not easy. That’s why so many people rather stick with the unhappy life that they’re living. It’s easy to stick with that major that you have when you’ve devoted four years of your life to it, but you don’t have to stick with it if it’s making you unhappy. It’s easy to stick with that career you’ve had for half of your life, but you don’t have to stick with it if it brings you pain. It may be simpler to stick with that unfulfilling relationship that you’ve been in for years, but you don’t have to stay in it if the chance of having something better exists. It may be more comfortable to stay in a city that you’ve been living in your entire life, but you don’t have to stay there if you want to move on to some place more exciting.

Starting over is hard. When you devote so much of your time to something you think that you need to stick with it. All of those years that you have put in seem to be wasted if you make the decision to not stick with that thing that you’ve put your heart and soul into for all this time. But it’s not a waste positive thinker. However, sticking with something that’s not bringing you happiness is a waste of your energy and it does take a way time that you could be devoting to starting this new life that could bring you happiness.

Positive thinker, starting over is never a waste if it has the opportunity to bring you some much needed happiness.

So if your only reason for sticking with something is that you invested a lot of time and effort into it then you should seriously rethink why you’re doing what you’re doing. Your happiness is what’s important in life, so if what you’re doing with your life is currently causing you unhappiness then there is time to change it.

You have from this very second onward to change your actions so that they can lead you towards the life that you want to lead. Don’t stick with something that’s making you unhappy no matter how much time you devoted to it. You made a choice to go after that goal that you achieved and now you can make another choice to pick a new goal or to strive to reach a new situation that’s going to make you happy. Positive thinker, you have the rest of your life to devote to choosing to do something that’s going to make you happy.

This one achievement doesn’t have to be it for you.

Choose a new path.

Choose a path that’s going to make you happy!

And remember, “It’s never too late to start over again and be happy.”
