Finding the Right Path

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is? We’re all on this earth, but why are we here? It seems like some people go their entire lives without knowing their purpose, and that’s a scary thing to think about. What if that was to happen to you? What if when you’re getting ready to die, you realize that you lived all of those years here on this planet, but you never were able to figure out why you were put here? I know I don’t want that to happen to me, and I’m sure that you don’t want that to happen to you either, so then the question becomes, how do you figure out what your purpose is?

If your purpose is the thing on earth that you were destined to do then it would make sense that it would be something that you actually enjoy doing.  If you’re going to be doing it for the majority of your life then your purpose isn’t going to be something that you hate. The cosmic being(s) that put you here wouldn’t be that kind of cruel (or at least I hope that he/she/they wouldn’t). So, in order to determine what your purpose is, you have to discover your passion(s). What is that one thing (or things) that you could never get bored with doing? Think of the activities that you enjoy doing and figure out the reason(s) behind why you actually like doing it. That is what you need to figure out…

Do you enjoy being around people because you get to give advice to them? If yes, then maybe your purpose in life is to help others with their issues by being their therapist.

Do you enjoy talking to your friends because you’ll have a chance to make them laugh? If you do, then maybe your purpose in life is to become a comedian so that you can brighten other people’s days.

Do you enjoy drawing because you get to make something that’s never been made before? If you do, then perhaps your purpose in life is to create art so powerful that it’s able to bring people of different backgrounds together.

Do you enjoy learning because you have a chance to discover new things? If you do, then maybe your purpose in life is to keep on learning so that you can come up with some new and exciting discovery that will change our world.

I just had a conversation with one of my friends who works in marketing. As she was telling me about her job, I sat there thinking how I could never in my wildest dreams do something like that. Sitting in a cubicle all day for 10 hours straight, making phone call after phone call, trying to sale things, seems like something straight out of hell. However, she spoke about it with such fire, that I could tell that this is something that she really enjoys doing. It’s not hell for her, which is why she was able to speak so highly of her job. This is her passion and whatever she ends up doing with her life in order to try and benefit those around her will most likely involve this. She also talked about some of her own pals who work in the same field, but instead of loving it like she does, they can’t stand it. This is clearly not their passion. They’re just doing it for the money, but in order to find what their purpose is in life, they’re going to have to discover and follow their own passions.

Positive thinker, let your passions guide your journey to finding your purpose in life. It doesn’t matter what your passions are as long as you like them. Don’t let anyone convince you that there is something wrong with the things that you like to do. If you end up listening to them then you’re only going to end up hurting yourself. They aren’t the ones who have to live your life. You are. And that is why it’s so important that you follow the path that’s going to make you happy.

If you haven’t found out what your purpose in life is yet, then keep on searching until you do. It’s not too late to find the path that will lead you to it. You just have to make sure that you’re looking for it in the right place. Start with going after your passions and the rest will follow!
