Going for it Now

The average life expectancy is around 70 years. Of course there are other things to keep in mind when you’re trying to guess how long you, specifically, will live. If you eat healthy, exercise, and take care of yourself then you’ll probably live longer than 70 years. On the other hand, if you only eat fatty and sugary foods, if you never workout, and if you don’t take care of yourself then you may end up living for less than those 70 years. Either way you end up going, it doesn’t really give you that much time here in this world. When you consider how long the earth has been around, your life is just a drop in the pond. Seventy years (give or take) may seem like a lot of time, especially when you’re younger, but as you get older you start to realize just how quickly those years can pass. One day you’re fresh out of high school and the world is at your finger tips, and the next day you’re watching your grandkids graduate from high school.

Just take a look back at your own life. I’m willing to bet that it has gone by like a snap of your fingers. I know mine has, and I’m not even that old.

Because we just have one lifetime to live, we have to make sure that we do everything that we want to do now. So many people get wrapped up in a mentality where they’ll tell themselves that they can just do that thing that they’ve always wanted to do later. They think that they have plenty of time left and so they keep putting it off and off and off until they look up and realize that there aren’t too many tomorrows left. That is why this is such a dangerous thought pattern to get in to. And I know that I’m guilty of it. There have been so many things in my life that I have put off doing. When you’re a young adult, you think that you have all of the time in the world to accomplish the things that you want to set out. The reality of the situation, however, is that before I know it, I’ll be middle aged and then next thing I know I’ll have too many gray hairs on my head to count, and I’ll wonder where all the time went. I’ll look back on my life, and I’ll examine all of the missed opportunities. I’ll think about all of the times that I could have done what I wanted to do but put it off for this or that reason. And no matter how much I want, I won’t be able to get those years back. The majority of my life will be behind me, and although I’ll still have years left ahead of me, I won’t have nearly as much time as I could have had to accomplish my goals if I had actually decided to do it when I first thought about doing it.

I don’t want you to get to a place where you’re old and gray looking back at your life regretting all of those things that you never had the courage to go for. When you think you have all the time in the world to do something you may just wind up putting it off because you think that you can do it at a later date, but once you start realizing that your time here on this earth is limited, then you can really get started living the life that you want to live.

You can finally…

Climb that mountain!

Ask that guy or gal you’ve been crushing on out on a date!

Go for that dream job!

Move across the world!

Positive thinker, if it’s something that you want to do, then do it!

It would be pretty nice if we could live forever. We would literally have all of the time in the world to try whatever we wanted. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. I want you to stop putting off the things that are on your to do list. If it’s really important to you, then make the decision today, right now, at this very second, to do it! Go for it now!
