Keeping Enough For You

Have you ever heard the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup”? It’s a pretty good motto to live by in my personal opinion. In essence, it’s telling you how important it is to take care of yourself. In this metaphor, you’re the cup. And on the inside of the cup is the liquid. The liquid is all of …

Me Time

Our days are constantly filled with people. We wake up and there are people (unless you live by yourself). We get in our car and there are other people on the road. We go to work and there are other people working with us. We go to the gym, to the store to run errands, to school, to church, to …

The Power of Words

Bad days. Nobody likes to have them, but they do happen every now and again. Perhaps you start off your day late for work and then everything just starts to go down hill from there. Possibly someone close to you received some bad health news, and now you’re worried about them. It could be that you may wake up not …

One Day, One Daaaaaay…Kindness will be infectious

As the year comes to a close, we are all thinking about resolutions and what we want to change in the new year. One of ours here at Positivity Works! is to continue to encourage a healthy and optimistic view on life for both our readers and ourselves. In that effort to bring us all into the new year with a smile, we have found a great video supporting wondrously positive ideas about kindness and it’s ability to improve happiness. The music is pretty cool too. So why not take a look? Maybe it can inspire you to spread the kindness, too!

“You are good, you are who you are and you have things to offer the world”

Disney put together an awesome “It Gets Better” video in support of The Trevor Project (mentioned in previous Positivity Works! blogs) which includes interviews with Disney Cast Members (aka employees) who have experienced bullying in their lives as a result of who they are and they even offer great advice about who to contact if you get to that point when you either “want to end it or break free [of the insecurities and trappings of feeling rejected, unwanted, unloved, etc]”.

“Just remember…You are never alone.”

“But why not smile anyway?”

Need a little pick me up? Dunn dunh dunh dunnn…Wally has arrived to save the day! Back from his adventures in You Tube land, he has found a wonderful jewel of a video made by a young lady full of inspirational thoughts and a great message. The star of our chosen Video Pick for Good Vibes writes simple but powerful words of understanding. The message…Sure, life has its ups and downs and twists and turns and sometimes back-handed face slaps, but everybody hurts, you are not alone, and why not smile anyway? You’ve got nothing to lose. And if you’re feeling up to it, spread the love too!

You gotta jump over the precipice…Don’t drop into it.

Today, I woke up thinking about the word, Precipice. According to the World English Dictionary, Precipice means the steep sheer face of a cliff or crag or a precarious situation. The definition has me envisioning myself standing right on the edge of said cliff, looking down into an abyss of precariousness. That sounds scary, right? I mean…what is down there?

Words to think on…Be Tolerant

We here at Positivity Works! are of the opinion that we need to be positive because it builds our tolerance to pain and hurt. It builds our tolerance to the reality of the multiple wars, disasters, and grievances and helps us to go on living. It even builds our tolerance to physical pains. For example, convincing yourself that “you got this” in a middle of a torturous run can really be the thing to push you past the pain of the cramp in your side. Positivity can also build your tolerance for others when you would like nothing better than to *&^BKJD!!! (insert *be really mean to them*). Being able to turn away from them with a smile is much better than being arrested, don’t you think?
